Should I Tell My Girlfriend About My Little?
I’m reaching out to for some advice. My girlfriend has met my Little, Lisa, a few times. She thinks I’m “babysitting” and helping out someone with special needs because Lisa has ADHD. What she doesn’t know is that Lisa is 19 years old, really smart, but identifies as a toddler.
As her Daddy, I've been taking care of Lisa’s needs, things like meals, bath times, potty reminders, and routines, all the little things that help her feel safe and supported. Lisa struggles with her ADHD, and she benefits from having clear rules, structure, and a lot of care. It’s completely platonic, but she depends on me just like a real toddler would.
The problem is that my girlfriend doesn’t know the full truth. She assumes Lisa is a younger girl with special needs, and I haven’t corrected her. I don’t think she’d understand what it means to care for someone like Lisa or why this role is so important to both of us.
I’m torn. Do I tell my girlfriend everything and try to explain? I don’t want her to misunderstand or think badly of Lisa. She trusts me as her Daddy, and the care I give her means a lot to her. But I also want to be honest with my girlfriend because I care about her, too.
For any Daddies, Mommies, or Littles out there: have you been in a situation like this? How do you explain the care you give your Little to someone who might not understand? Should I let her keep assuming, or is honesty the best path here?
